Oh Boy! Recording artist Arlo McKinley joined us for a special Sun King Brewery Session before his HI-FI Annex show last June. It’s no secret, Arlo’s been a friend of the HI-FI family for many years. That history dates back some 15 years to when Arlo and Jeremy Pinnell were touring the Midwest as The Great Depression. Since venturing out on his own, Arlo’s well-crafted songs has elevated his solo career. It’s no doubt, that raw and honest talent is what attracted the attention of John Prine – who eventually signed him to Oh Boy! Records.
Sun King Sessions are a series of intimate performances, filmed live at Sun King Brewery in Downtown Indianapolis. Some of our favorite moments have come courtesy of the Sun King Sessions, which have featured the likes of Sturgill Simpson, Tyler Childers and JJ Grey. This particular session was extra special. Not only did we get to hear intimate versions of some of our favorite Arlo songs, but he surprised us with a cover of Prine’s “How Lucky” that nearly left us in tears.
Enjoy these great videos and share them with your friends!
