Heavy Denim, a new album by Nick Dittmeier and The Sawdusters, is set to come out July 15th. The album features new twists to their sound including drum loops, synth, and different beats.
“As a band, we decided we weren’t going to try to go back and replicate who we were, or the reality we were living before covid, before all the civil unrest and the national racial reckoning. A lot of people were fixated on getting back to quote-unquote normal, but to me it seemed pretty obvious that wasn’t even on the table.” The group talked to Glide Magazine about life post lockdown and how this inspired change in their sound and vision. Evolving and revamping a bands sound is important to Nick Dittmeier and The Sawdusters, and they used the pandemic to give themselves a reboot.
Forcing themselves out of their comfort zone, the band developed an album that stripped back their roots and left room for Dire Straits’ spacey, synth-anchored early-’90s country curveball that expands the boundaries of its genre.
