New music just dropped—and it’s turning up the heat. From raw, high-energy rock to smooth, introspective indie vibes and infectious, upbeat anthems, these releases are dominating playlists everywhere! We’ve pulled together the must-hear songs and albums that are setting the tone this month. Let’s get into it!

BIOHAZARD: Death of Me

The reunited classic lineup of BIOHAZARD has released the official visualizer for its new single, “Death Of Me”. The track is taken from “Divided We Fall”, the band’s first studio album in over a decade, which will arrive on October 17 via BLKIIBLK.

BIOHAZARD drummer Danny Schuler comments: “‘Death Of Me’. One of my favorites! To me, this song embodies the frustration, miscommunication and intolerance that we sometimes deal with in our lives. This song is a mid-tempo banger for anyone feeling like life is a never-ending battle against everything and everyone. Never give up!!!”

BIOHAZARD will be coming soon to HI-FI Annex on October 4th. Get your tickets here!

Carter Vail: Madeline

LA-based artist Carter Vail has announced that his new EP Coydog will be released on October 17 via RCA Records. The EP tells the story of the Coydog, a cowboy hatted, suit-clad character who is being hunted by an unnamed antagonist dressed exactly like him. The synthy new single “Madeline” and its official music video kick off the story, which finds Coydog using the power of the occult to find a partner in life. That spurs a chain of events that leads him to a Spy vs. Spy-esque game of espionage and adventure.

On the new single, Vail shares: “‘Madeline’ is my ode to 2010’s indie pop; what I consider to be the Golden Age of the genre. I wanted to write a love song that celebrates the complicated parts of a relationship. I think there’s something charming about a song that hides melancholy lyrics over a dance, glittery synth heavy track, and ‘Madeline’ is my version of that.”

He continues about the music video: “The ‘Madeline’ music video is my first attempt at directing, alongside my lovely collaborators Makayla Keasler & Spencer Slishman. Shot on 16mm film, the video is a love letter to shoe-stringed visual effects & handheld whip pans. It tells the story of a lonely Coydog, searching for love in the occult and finding trouble.”

Vail is also a bonafide touring force with an upcoming cross-country headline tour tied to the new EP. Last year, he performed a number of sold-out headline shows, as well as support slots with Quinn XCII and Yung Gravy, the latter of which was the subject for a hilarious chat between the two artists for Interview Magazine.

In his upcoming tour Vail will be hitting the stage at HI-FI on November 13th. Get your tickets here!

White Reaper: Blue 42

White Reaper are sharing “Blue 42”, the track is off their forthcoming album Only Slightly Empty, available September 26th via Blue Grape Music. The song follows previous singles “Blink” and “Honestly”. White Reaper will be touring this Fall with support from Lip Critic, Worlds Worst, and Dazy.

Only Slightly Empty was Self-produced by the band (vocalist/guitarist Tony Esposito, keyboardist Ryan Hater, and guitarist Hunter Thompson) and recorded with engineer Joey Oaxaca (Hunny, Mamalarky). “There’s definitely a fresh start feeling with this record,” says Esposito. “I even have more nerves leading up to people hearing it–I feel like I did back when we were putting out our first music ever. Everything’s so different now but I have that excitement again.”

Come listed to White Reaper’s fresh new sound on October 6th at HI-FI. Get your tickets here!

Lovejoy: Pay & Display

Brighton indie-rockers Lovejoy are back with their latest single, Pay & Display, and it’s pure chaotic energy. Out now, the track packs the kind of singalong hooks and live-ready punch that have made the band a fan favourite.

The accompanying video delivers exactly what fans have come to expect: frontman Will Gold trapped in a falling lift with a bizarre mix of characters, directed by Aaron Bishop and shot by Harvey Davies of Noiziac. One YouTube viewer put it perfectly: “I love how Lovejoy have always been chaotic with their MV and creative with a plot, feels like I’ve watched a movie.”

On the track, the band say:

“We wanted to capture that feeling of everything around you spinning out of control, but still having fun with it. Pay & Display is a little ridiculous, a little real, and hopefully a lot of fun to scream along to live.”

The single sets the stage for their highly-anticipated debut album, One Simple Trick, arriving 3rd October. After four years of writing and refining, the band promise 12 tracks of cheeky, energetic indie-rock that’s unmistakably Lovejoy.

With Pay & Display, a debut album on the horizon, and a North American tour ahead, Lovejoy are proving their infectious energy and chaotic charm aren’t slowing down anytime soon.

Don’t miss the chance to hear Lovejoy live at HI-FI Annex on October 24th. Get your tickets here!

Colony House: 77 (Pt. 1)

Colony House, the Tennessee-based indie rock band known for their heart-on-sleeve songwriting and electrifying live shows, returns with 77—an album that marks both a sonic shift and a spiritual deepening.

Rooted in the aesthetics of ‘90s alt-rock, 77 channels raw, no-frills energy while exploring themes of eternity, nostalgia, faith, and forgiveness. It’s a retro-futurist reflection on love, loss, and the invisible threads that connect us, with lyrics that are earnest but never heavy-handed.

77 has become a symbol of eternal perspective,” says frontman Caleb Chapman. “It’s about looking backward and forward at the same time.”

At its core, the album stays true to the band’s DNA—introspective, sincere, and community-driven. It’s a natural evolution for Colony House: more mature, more intentional, and still unafraid to ask the big questions.

Stay tuned for Part 2, coming soon.

Come see Colony House live at HI-FI Annex on October 2nd. Get your tickets here!

Fleshwater: 2000: In Search of The Endless Sky

With a foreboding descent into doom that melts into swimmingly beautiful guitar notes, Fleshwater set the stage for their second studio record, 2000: In Search of the Endless Sky. After three years of anticipation, the Boston rock outfit is back with a hard-hitting follow-up that pushes their sound into new territory. From the first track, they signal what’s coming: something old, something new, and most importantly, something exciting. 2000 delivers the signature Fleshwater sound while twisting it into a fresh, nostalgic haze that dares listeners to engage beyond chugging riffs and soaring clean vocals.

Read here for more information!

It’s not too late, don’t miss Fleshwater at HI-FI Annex on September 23rd. Get your tickets here!

Durry: Dead Media

Posted by Durry: Our new tune Dead Media is here! This song feels… applicable right now. It’s about the hollowness of life online and a longing to get back to the real world. We thought this song deserved something special, so we actually included it on the record as a secret track, only available on physical media, until now!

Don’t miss Durry’s Your Friend From The Real World Tour at HI-FI on November 19th – Get your tickets here!

Tune-Yards: Tell the Future with Your Body

Tune-Yards just released their new EP, Tell the Future With Your Body, off the back of May’s Better Dreaming, which saw the duo deliver some of the grooviest music of their career so far. On this new EP, Merrill Garbus and Nate Brenner expand on the loopy, homespun energy of their latest album with four more tracks of irresistible rhythms, basslines and melodies. The tracklisting offers three previously unheard songs from the Better Dreaming recording sessions, including dynamic new track ‘Sand Into Stone’.

HI-FI to Host National Independent Venue Association’s Live Policy Summit https://mokbpresents.com/2025/08/19/hi-fi-to-host-national-independent-venue-associations-live-policy-summit/ Tue, 19 Aug 2025 14:45:39 +0000 https://mokbpresents.com/?p=42224 more »]]>
Independent venues are more than just places where music happens. They are cultural hubs, creative incubators, and economic drivers for their communities. That’s why we are excited to share some big news: HI-FI will host the National Independent Venue Association’s (NIVA) Live Policy Summit, presented by Tixel, on October 15–16, 2025, in Fountain Square.

This two-day gathering will bring industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders from across the country to Indianapolis to focus on the issues that matter most to the future of live music and performance. Together, attendees will explore policy solutions, build stronger coalitions, and shape strategies to keep independent live entertainment thriving at the local, state, and national levels.

Programming will feature timely sessions including:

 • State of Live: Why Live Entertainment Policy Matters
 • Sustaining Live: State Incentives and Live Performance Funds
 • Ticketing 101: The Landscape and Legislation
 • Cities and Live Policy
 • Navigating the PRO Licensing Landscape
 • Growing the Coalition for Change

This is the first event of its kind, and having it in Indianapolis, in the heart of the country, is a powerful statement about the work our city and state have been doing through the Indiana Independent Venue Alliance and the Independent Indiana Stages initiative.

Josh Baker, co-owner of HI-FI and MOKB Presents and Executive Director of the Indiana Independent Venue Alliance, said:

“Independent venues have always been creative problem-solvers, and across the country we’ve seen incredible examples of communities working together to protect live music. The Live Policy Summit is an opportunity to bring those ideas to Indianapolis, engage our policymakers directly, and shape the future of the live entertainment industry. Hosting this event at HI-FI in the heart of the country feels especially fitting.”

Event Details

October 15–16, 2025
HI-FI | 1043 Virginia Ave, Indianapolis

Registration is prioritized for NIVA members, independent live entertainment stakeholders, and policymakers. If space allows, additional tickets may be released to the public closer to the event.

Co-written by Broussard, Travis Meadows, and Alphonse Ardoin, this song exudes a soulful rhythm and highlights Broussard’s stunning, rugged vocals.

His first album of original music in seven years, Time is a Thief presents a heartfelt collection of ten new songs, showcasing the celebrated Louisiana singer/songwriter with gritty, rootsy hooks and infectious grooves conveyed through his fervent vocals. Produced by Grammy-winning artist Eric Krasno and Grammy-nominated producer/guitarist Jeremy Most, this album exudes a funky, soulful sound, featuring diverse sonic layers that set it apart from Broussard’s previous works. In a recent interview with Louisiana’s The Advocate, Broussard noted, “In my career, you’ve got flashes of me in every project, but this one, from top to bottom, is fully me.”

Broussard is the featured artist in the latest episode of the NPR World Cafe series ‘Acadiana Music Showcase.’ The monthly program, produced by KRVS Public Media at the University of Louisiana in Lafayette, highlights the vibrant music culture of Louisiana’s Cajun country. Listen here.

Broussard launched his “Time is A Thief” national tour last month. The 30-plus city run features performances this week in Red Bank, NJ; Hartford, CT; New York City; and Beverly, MA. Additional cities include Portsmouth, NH; Chicago, IL; St. Louis; and two shows in New Orleans, including his third appearance at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. He is also gearing up for his highly anticipated Australian debut with a series of shows that includes the Byron Bay Bluesfest on April 18 and 19.

LISTEN TO TIME IS A THIEF HERE

The album explores themes of love, the struggles of life, and times fleeting nature as a testament to his evolution as an artist.” – Blues Rock Review

“Broussard has knocked this out of the park once again. Ten new songs from one of the finest Southern soul singers, this album has been well worth the wait.” – Blues Matters
