On November 1st, American Idol contestant Hunter Metts will begin his debut headline tour, with an exclusive performance taking place at HI-FI.
Raised by a musical family in Franklin, Tennessee, Hunter Metts dreamed of following his parents’ footsteps, and pursued singing and songwriting. When his parents faced financial challenges in his childhood, he adapted and learned to code, saving his family in a time of crisis. Hunter followed this path until 2021, when American Idol invited him to perform as a contestant. There, he secured a Top 10 spot, solidifying his place as one of the show’s most remarkable indie-folk artists.
What sets Hunter Metts apart from most contestants was his ability to write original songs. Inspired by folk artists like Bon Iver, Gregory Alan Isakov, and Lord Huron, Hunter began releasing his own music, starting with his debut single “The River” in 2021. Since then, he’s consistently released new songs, finally quitting his job as a coder to pursue music full time in 2023.
His newest EP, A Crater Wide, released on Friday, October 10th.
Recorded at the iconic Blasting Room in Fort Collins, Colorado, A Crater Wide is Hunter Metts’ newest album. It features his recently launched singles “Center Of The Universe” and “Blue Ridge Run,” along with his breakout track “Weathervane”—a 2024 release that achieved a spot on nearly every viral chart around the world, accumulating over 47.3 million streams so far—and the previously released song “Abilene.”
Co-produced by Metts and Andrew Berlin (a producer, engineer, and multi-instrumentalist known for his work with Gregory Alan Isakov), the seven-song project encompasses a rootsy yet lavishly detailed sound that feels beautifully out of step with the noise and rush of the modern world.

To celebrate the release of his new EP, Metts will launch his debut U.S. headline tour on October 28. He will be performing his newest songs at HI-FI on Saturday, November 1st.
