Rising indie-folk musician runo plum is making waves in her artistic pursuits. With her first album released, her headline tour announced, and a special visit to HI-FI scheduled for Friday, February 20th, runo plum is shaping up to become a remarkable new artist.

Caught in the stillness of her rural hometown in Minnesota, runo plum pursued music from a young age, creating songs that mimicked the tranquil wilderness around her. She made her first two projects after enduring the worst of her 20s, including the shutdown of her university program and the eruption of the COVID pandemic.
Her first two EPs, earlier from ’20 and softer, would emerge from that era. “I was forcing myself to see the beauty and everything around me, the nature, just to not be so sad about it.” she said in an interview. “I had tricked myself into actually really loving it.”

On November 14th, runo plum released her first album, patching. Created with friend Lutalo Jones (co-producer) and girlfriend Noa Francis (instrumentalist), her debut resembles all the layered, formidable aspects of a breakup, as well as the hope that can stem from new beginnings. It cultivates the love and loss experienced during this era of her life, combining soft acoustics and poetic lyrics with passionate, expansive tracks.
“Every song is an emotional fragment during my healing process patched together into one project,” she said about the album. “You can feel the damage, but also the repair. The slowing down in order to move forward, and the dreaming of a time where I’m finally free from the dread.”
