Annika Wells

Before this EP I feel like I’ve had two identities that have been totally separate from each other – the forward-facing edgy pop songwriter Annika, and the dirtbag Annika. When I’m not working on music there’s a good chance I’m outside – climbing rocks, hiking mountains, collecting bugs, and generally doing activities that involve occasionally (incidentally) swallowing a little dirt. I think I’ve always kept the dirt-eating Annika hidden because I didn’t know how to tie her in with this polished character I thought I had to be in order to “make it” in music. This EP is the first time I’ve allowed myself to be both – to show all facets of my personality, be exactly who I am, and lay it all out on the plate. The recipe for “EAT DIRT” involves a lot of heartbreak, a dash of satire, a heap of oversharing, and a few tears to top it off. I hope you eat it raw, get it in your teeth, and savor every moment. It’s my favorite thing I’ve ever made.
