“Good Doom is a psychedelic lo-fi music group based in Minneapolis, MN. The band has opened for modern psych luminaries such as Kikagaku Moyo, Mild High Club and Flavor Crystals.
Their first release Naps came out on New Years of 2016 and was an exploration in guitars, reverb, and vintage Italian keyboards. Shortly after that came the Hug EP, which featured more dissonance and distorted mania. The following release, New Shapes for You came out on the Forged Artifacts label in March 2017. Each of the ten songs or “shapes” feature different combinations of lo-fi sounds and charming melodies – perfect for tuning in and dropping out to.
With their 2018 release, Mood Life, Good Doom embraced classic psychedelic sound a la Neu!, Harmonia, Eno etc. “The new tunes very much demonstrate a band that has the ability to traverse wide varieties of style and bring them under their own roof. And they integrate them all seamlessly into their unique, very chill, dreamy sound.” – reviler.org. This stylistic approach was expanded upon in their 2020 album Spider Temple Valley.
