Morris & Depew
Andrew Morris & John Depew share a dedication to traditional American music, paired with a taste for experimental songcraft and unconventional musical forms. Individually, the two have earned strong reputations in the bluegrass and folk scenes. Together, they create an exciting musical conversation. Morris, a native of Warsaw, IN, has played the Grand Ole Opry with The HillBenders and toured Europe and the US with The Matchsellers. Depew, of Arlington, KS, is a Kansas State Mandolin Champion who has drawn attention for his progressive trio, The John Depew Trio.
On stage, Morris and Depew swap instruments with ease. They move between banjo, mandolin, and guitar, trading lead and harmony vocals like two brothers. The duo is equally at home with straight-ahead and experimental arrangements of traditional songs. Their show also weaves in a healthy dose of original material from their own deep catalogs. Sometimes funny, often mind-bending, Morris and Depew are musical craftsmen and explorers.
