Terrapin Flyer

Terrapin Flyer is a Chicago based Grateful Dead band that for the last 20 years has become one of the top touring Grateful Dead bands in the United States.  The band has a core revolving cast of top musicians who all aspire to keep the spirit and the music of The Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia alive.  Hundreds of notable musicians have crossed paths with the band, but among them are a who’s who of top names in the jamband world. Since the band first was formed, it has often included former members of the Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia Band as special guests.

Terrapin Flyer has toured with Jerry Garcia Band’s Melvin Seals since 2004 and with Melvin they have delved deeply into the Jerry Garcia Band catalog.  They have also toured with Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Tom Constanten from The Grateful Dead, who they have hosted The Grateful Dead Night with the Chicago White Sox for several years.   They also did many tours with Vince Welnick from the Grateful Dead before he passed in 2006.  The band also actively tours without special guests utilizing top musicians in an evolving cast of the best talent in the Grateful Dead extended family of musicians.
