Formed in Columbus, OH in the Spring of 2016, the band has quickly “cemented its place as the sprawling, multi-instrumental next generation of Columbus reggae.” (Columbus Dispatch). Their debut EP “Throwaway Culture”, released in late 2018, showcases a unique blend of roots reggae and modern styles, while emphasizing strong songwriting and vocal harmonies. Their ever-evolving, engaging live shows maintain high energy, precision sound, and traces of improvisation. The band, led by brothers Zach (vocals, saxophone, percussion) and Benny Coleman (vocals, bass), vary in age, musical backgrounds and taste, leading to a diverse sound with influences from well beyond reggae. The Quasi Kings have had the privilege to play with the likes of Steel Pulse, Badfish, Fortunate Youth, Passafire, The Expanders, Third World, Israel Vibration, Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad, The Werks, Dark Star Orchestra, Tropidelic, and more, and are currently focusing on a full length album set to release in 2021.
