It seems like WonderRoad was just yesterday, but in reality the first anniversary of WonderRoad Festival is fast approaching! She’s grown up right before our eyes and so have the bands that played the inagural WonderRoad in June of 2022 at Garfield Park. May 24th at HI-FI – Ax and The Hatchetmen (’22)
This Chicago-based rock and roll band’s shimmering three-guitar attack, earthy rhythms, and blistering horns have gained them a loyal following nationwide. Formed in 2018, the camaraderie and musicality between the long-time group of friends is apparent the moment they take the stage.

June 17th at HI-FI – almost monday w/ Myron Elkins (’23)

After countless garage jams, D.I.Y. gigs in the back of a surf shop, and innumerable hours writing together, almost monday , first emerging in 2020, has racked up more than 140 million overall streams, uplifting audiences everywhere in the process.
Originally from San Diego, the trio crafted their 2020 debut EP don’t say you’re ordinary with producers Mark Needham (The Killers, Fleetwood Mac) and Simon Oscroft (The Naked and Famous, DREAMERS).
Myron Elkins
Myron Elkins didn’t set out to become a full-time musician. After graduating from high school, the then 17-year-old instead became a welder in his hometown of Otsego, Michigan and had every intention of making that his career. However, fate had other plans. Three years ago, a relative signed him up for a battle of the bands at a local venue, despite the fact Elkins’ only prior experience with live music was playing at church and a few bars in the small Michigan town where he grew up. With just three weeks’ notice, Elkins put a band together featuring three of his cousins and a friend. Although the group didn’t win (they came in second), the experience opened Elkins’ eyes to a very different career path.

June 18th at HI-FI – Andrew McMahon (’23)
Over the last two decades, the veteran indie-pop singer-songwriter has experienced musical rebirth many times, ever since he started entertaining audiences in the ‘00s alt-pop outfit Something Corporate, and he’s consistently arrived on the other side stronger than ever.
The East Coast-born, SoCal-based singer and musical collaborator has created a stunning catalog of introspective, impossibly catchy piano pop. His new single, “Stars,” is just the latest example of his immeasurable staying power.

June 22nd at HI-FI – The Blue Stones (’22)
Since bursting onto the scene with their acclaimed debut album Black Holes, The Blue Stones have delivered a crowd-thrilling live show that defies the laws of physics, generating an impossibly massive sound from its two members alone.
For The Blue Stones, there’s an undeniable sense of both purpose and pleasure in boldly following their creative impulses. “Our approach has always been to make the music we want to hear,” says Tessier. “Every song we create is something we wanted to see in the world, and hopefully if that goes far enough, it’ll help move things forward for the whole genre.

July 14th at HI-FI – The Palace (’22)
Alternating between sweet soulful vocal runs and unabashed lead guitar, the band is about having fun with a few breaks for tenderness. Although the sound will swell and have you dancing to chugging blues riffs about “whatchamacall’em”, the noise will regularly make way for vocal runs that hush the room. Palace was named after the house that was the social center of the band and the feeling of being at an intimate party has never left the set. If rock wore a smile and soul a smirk, there you have Palace.

July 15th at Nickel Plate District Amp – Ripe (’22)
The members of Ripe have never felt more assured about the band or their music. Collectively and personally, Ripe has weathered a mountain of adversity over the past few years, and from those struggles have arisen their best art yet.
Bright Blues, Ripe’s sophomore album, is enjoying big excitement at radio, with the new single “Settling” hitting the top 15 at AAA and top 25 at ALT with over 16K+ radio spins garnering 15+million impressions and being featured as Alt Nation’s critical cut artist.

81355 (pronounced “bless”) is a voltronized collaboration between three of Indianapolis music scene’s elder statesmen: Sirius Blvck, Oreo Jones, and Sedcairn Archives. While the three have worked together in the past, contributing to one another’s projects as cameos and guest production, this is the first instance in which they have bonded together from conception to execution.

This alternative r&b band, formerly known as Huckleberry Funk, is focused on making songs that can easily slap in the car and vibe during a smoke session.

August 11th at HI-FI – Motherfolk (’22)
Serious songs from goofy people. That’s what you can expect from diverse, Midwest indie-rockers, Motherfolk. What started out as a writing project among two college friends turned into a fully realized band untethered to genres, with an endlessly bright future.
Despite their light-hearted, groovy-rock sound Motherfolk is dedicated to creating a much deeper connection with their fans. They don’t shy away from the taboo, taking on heavy topics with a light heart. The results provide us with music you can dance to, whose impact is felt long after the song has ended.

August 24th at HI-FI – Goldpark (’22)
For the members of Goldpark, the best music comes from true collaboration. The Nashville-based alternative rock trio, which formed in 2019, finds inspiration from bands like Coldplay, Kings of Leon, and Death Cab For Cutie–groups known for thoughtful songwriting paired with lush soundscapes.
Goldpark’s songs are a point of connection not only for the band but for the listener too. Even as the musicians examine the highs and lows of human existence, they also lean towards that optimism. In hard times, music can be what guides us back to ourselves.

Hailing from the heart of the Midwest, The Protest, has been a mainstay in the Hard Community for quite sometime.
