Grammy award-winning and multi-platinum selling rock band SOUL ASYLUM started as Minneapolis’ punk younger brothers to the Replacements and Husker Dü. Their legendary catalogue spans more than three decades from their 1992 breakthrough album, Grave Dancers Union — featuring the international hits “Runaway Train,” “Black Gold,” and “ Somebody to Shove” — to their 2024 album Slowly But Shirley.

The MAC was constructed in the mid-1920s and was originally referred to as the Amphitheater. It has hosted a number of musical and theatrical shows, including Guess Who, Dolly Pardon, Chuck Mangione, and the first production of Starlight Musicals in 1944. Local Shakespeare groups have often performed at the center and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra regularly schedules Symphony in the Park events each summer. The MacAllister Amphitheater has hosted a number of MOKB Presents Summer Concerts including Father John Misty, Houndmouth, Borns, Greensky Bluegrass and the annual Holler On The Hill Music Festival.
